Up until a couple of years
ago I had no interest in skincare. But boy, how things quickly changed when I
leapt into the multifaceted world of beauty. It’s not secret that having
healthy, glowing skin is a major contributor to great makeup, and hence this was
one of the major reasons I started to truly take of my skin. Your skin,
especially on your face, takes a beating everyday without you even knowing it.
This is why it is important to restore and replenish your skin everyday using
skincare products that suit your skin. One of the biggest problems people face
is dry, unnourished skin that ultimately leads to premature aging and wrinkles.
This has certainly crossed
my mind numerous times, particularly now due to the colder weather. Coincidently, I was offered the chance to trial one of Arbonne International's products The
Extra Moisture Restorative Day Crème with SPF15 from their newest collections the
RE9 Advanced Skincare. Of course I said yes, and now it's time for a review!

'So what is RE9
Advanced?' I hear you say, well Arbonne describes it to be: a global
anti-ageing skin system, comprising of 9 potent age-defying elements, 6 key
botanicals and natural enzymes to help create visibly younger-looking and
hydrated skin. The ingredients include Algae
Extract, Vitamin C, Bio-Hydria®
Complex, Vitaspheres, Elhibin and Stimu Tex®, Alpha Lipoic
Acid, Copper, Peptide, Alpha and Beta Hydroxy Acids. I've
honestly haven't heard about most of these ingredients but they are apparently
excellent at fighting the appearance of redness, pore size, skin tone, texture,
lines and wrinkles.
Onto the review: the packaging scores 10/10 for me. It looks great and would be very travel friendly as it feels incredibly light. The bright burnt orange colour definitely sets it apart from any other moisturiser I've seen on the market. I love the fact that this has a pump as it makes it much more hygienic than moistures that you physically need to scoop out. On the other side the one negative to this is bottle is that you can't actually tell when all the product is finished or how much you have left. At least with tubs/tube packaging you always know when you're close to running out and you can always scrape the last remaining product out. However, with this bottle there is no way that you can actually get the last amount of product unless you somehow break the bottle.

The cream itself has a slight (not overbearing at all) citrus like scent that lingers on the skin for a few minutes after application. Being a lover of all things that smell like citrus, this was a big plus for me. A little goes along way with this day cream with one pump giving you more than enough to moisturise your entire face plus your neck. Another amazing factor about this cream is it absorbs into the skin within seconds of application. My skin looked so healthy and felt so nourished within 5 minutes.
However the downside to the Extra Moisture Restorative Day Crème is the fact that because it is so moisturising it made my oily/combo skin look more dewy (and slightly oily) than it usually is. After using this RE9 Advanced moisturiser for the first week I noticed that every night when I came home from work my makeup looked worse for wear. I usually leave the house in the morning with medium coverage foundation but by the end of the night 70% of that coverage had disappeared. Because the moisturiser was so nourishing on my skin I decided to only use it at night (so my makeup wouldn't slide off during day wear) and I'm very impressed with the results. My skin looks much more healthy and doesn't seem to be affected at all by the coarse winter weather.

Overall, I believe that this is a top quality moisturise for those that have a dry/normal skin type. Your life would probably be complete when you give this product a go. For oily girls like me, I wouldn't say "stay clear" of this moisturiser, but just be careful how you use it. I definitely think that using it as a night cream instead of a day cream will give you much better results.
Unfortunately, the Advanced Extra Moisture Restorative Day Creme is a little on the pricey side retailing at $71. But if you want to treat yourself (or a friend) to a little piece of luxury this would definitely be the moisturiser for you.

I haven't tried this moisturiser but I have tried the serum, and it's just beautiful on drier skin. Great for wrinkles too :)
ReplyDeleteThis sounds perfect for nighttime when my skin is super dry
ReplyDeleteI don't like the citrus scents of the Arbonne products, and although they're vegan, my skin doesn't like something in their skincare range... I do like their makeup though! :)
